About Bill Gray Ogilvy
Bill Gray co-owns Hulls Highway Inc., a Southport, Connecticut-based consulting firm. Prior to this, Mr. Gray gained a wealth of business experience during his long and successful career in advertising. From 1978 to 2009, he served Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, Inc., a leading communications firm that offers clients services in a multitude of disciplines, including advertising, public relations, interactive media, database management, graphic design, and sales promotion. Beginning as an Assistant Account Executive in 1978, Mr. Gray rose through the ranks to become President of Ogilvy & Mather’s office in New York in 1997. In 2005, he assumed the position of Co-Chief Executive Officer of Ogilvy & Mather’s North America region. During his tenure, Bill Gray contributed to campaigns that won numerous industry awards, founded the Ogilvy Diversity Council in 2008, and worked with high-profile clients including The Hershey Company, Cisco Systems, Inc., Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Kraft Foods Inc., and American Express Company.
In addition to his career at Ogilvy & Mather, Mr. Gray has acted as an Independent Trustee for Century Capital Management, LLC’s Century Family of Mutual Funds since 2006, and from 2007 until 2011 worked with Harleysville Group Inc. as Director and member of its Coordination and Risk Committees.
Bill Gray graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and obtained his Master of Business Administration from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Today, he frequently serves as a featured alumni and Guest Speaker at the Darden School of Business.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Bill Gray is active in philanthropy. He remains an avid supporter of The Fresh Air Fund, the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, and the World Wildlife Fund. He is a former longtime board member of the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Southport and also has sat on the board for the National Corporate Theatre Fund. Since 1997, Mr. Gray has been part of the Board of Trustees for the New York Public Library. He chairs the library’s Marketing Committee and sits on the Executive Committee, as well. Previously, Mr. Gray functioned as a member of the Board of Directors for The Ad Council, Inc.
